Can I be fired from AFU due to caring for sick parents?

Exemption for taking care of parents of groups I-II. Updated: October 2026.

Quick Answer

Caring for parents with I-II groups of disabilities is the basis for dismissal, provided that there are no other able-bodied relatives of the 1st-2nd degree of family kinship. The basis is confirmed by the Act of permanent care (CMU Resolution 560). Details below.

I–II
parent disability group
1–2 steps.
there are no other relatives of this degree
Act
permanent care — KMU 560

What is required to confirm the basis

  1. MSEK certificates of parents about the category;
  2. act of permanent care — issued by the social security body according to Resolution of the CMU 560;
  3. documents on the absence of other 1st-2nd degree relatives (birth certificate, court documents, etc.).

Without the "act of absence of others" the basis does not work - it is not care at all, but care if another relative can perform.

Frequently Asked Questions

Another relative lives in another city - does it matter?

It is important whether he is able to actually take care of his parents. If he is capable, the reason does not arise, even if he lives far away.

The mother lives without disability, but is sick - will it be suitable?

No, the reason requires disability (I-II gr.); other MSEK assets are not suitable.
